Gun Violence Prevention Program - -
MAKING A DIFFERENCE...ONE LIFE AT A TIME
Who We Are

Our Street Outreach team responds to incidents involving gun violence to help mediate the conflict and prevent retaliatory actions between those who are at-risk to commit a future crime or become victims.
Building Better Futures (BBF) assists individuals in the community who are victims or survivors of gun violence by providing a variety of services.
The elimination of violence can significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals by fostering a sense of safety and security. When people are free from the threat of violence, they can pursue their goals and aspirations without fear, leading to increased productivity and personal growth. A peaceful environment allows individuals to focus on their education, careers, and personal relationships, contributing to overall well-being and happiness. Moreover, the absence of violence reduces the physical and psychological trauma that can have long-lasting effects on individuals, causing them to fail to live up to their potential and from living a fulfilled life.
Moreover, the elimination of violence also promotes stronger and more cohesive communities. When violence is eradicated, trust and cooperation among community members are strengthened, leading to a more supportive and inclusive society. This sense of community can provide individuals with a network of support, enhancing their resilience and ability to cope with challenges. Furthermore, a violence-free environment encourages civic engagement and participation, as people feel more empowered to contribute to the betterment of their communities. Ultimately, the elimination of violence creates a foundation for a more just and equitable society, where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.

The Need
Play Me
About eight-in-ten murders in the U.S. in 2021 – 20,958 out of 26,031, or 81% – involved a firearm. That marked the highest percentage since at least 1968.
Preventing firearm deaths requires a comprehensive approach and various partners from across sectors working directly with communities to decrease imbalances and increase resiliency and well-being.

Help With Basic Math and Reading.
We know that many individuals were unable to learn some math functions while in school. Because a basic knowledge of addition and subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions is required for a job in construction, we provide a one-hour education session each week before we get into the construction training, to help ensure that all participants can perform these math functions.
